Room 505: Monday Morning

"I think this is worse than before," Francine said with a glance over at Katchoo's empty bed. "She's not hungover and beat up, but she might as well be."

Merlin
Merlin was a bit at a loss for reassuring on this one because, well, he was concerned too.

"Have you spoken with her about it?"

Francine
"She told me last night about why she was gone." And the look on her face and the sound of her voice had been enough to make Francine worry more now than before Katchoo left.

"She looked like she got run over by a steamroller. I couldn't bear to push her about the rest of it, especially after the fight we had before she left." Francine sighed and tugged at a lock of hair that had fallen into her face. "And then she was already out of the room when I woke up this morning."

Which, coming from Francine the Woohoo It's Morning person, was saying something.

Merlin
Merlin nodded and sighed, reaching over to grab her hand. "Did she leave a note again?"

Francine
Francine shook her head. "No, but she probably just walked into town."

Not that she hadn't had exactly the same crap, she's gone again thought herself. It'd be a while before she didn't have that initial moment of panic every time she came back to an empty room. But... like Katchoo said, that wouldn't be happening again, for all the wrong reasons.

Gibbs
It was the first time that Gibbs had ever stepped foot in the dorms. There was a very big part of him that hoped that it would be his last.

Warrant in hand, Gibbs rapped sharply on the door.

"Fandom Police. Open up," he called out.

Francine
"What?" Yeah, she'd be paying the royalty on that one. Francine let go of Merlin's hand and walked over to the door. "Chuck, if that's you and you think you found a new way to prank us, I swear you're gonna find that dvd shoved so far up--"

Gibbs
Gibbs let out a little grunt of frustration at the delay and the "Chuck" comment.

"This is Special Agent Gibbs of the Fandom Police department," he growled. "Open the door. Now."

Merlin
"A knight?!" Oh god! Hide the magic book--waaaaait.

Francine
"Not exactly..." Francine gave him a distracted look over her shoulder, then opened the door. "Um. Hi?" Fandom PD has Special Agents?

Gibbs
Gibbs pushed the door open and held up a warrant. "I have a warrant for the arrest of one Ms. Katina Choovanski," he said moving towards the door and trying to make his way past Francine. "She here?"

Francine
Since she wasn't, and since Francine would've been too dazed by that to try stopping him even if she was, he wouldn't have any problem with that. "What? No, she's not. She's out." And then another "What?" just to tie things up prettily.

Gibbs
"Out where?" Gibbs said, not even looking at Francine really. Or Merlin for that matter either. Mostly he was looking at the room. Closets. The bed. Any where a kid Katchoo's size could hide. "Assuming she's your friend? It's better you tell me now before this gets even more out of hand."

Merlin
"She's not here," Merlin repeated. "We don't know where."

Francine
"She's probably in town somewhere," Francine said, frowning and crossing her arms. "What are you looking for?" Please don't find the lesbian porn. "Why are you here? Katchoo didn't do anything!"

...Aside from have a bar fight, but shh. Those charges were dropped.

Gibbs
"I've got a warrant that says differently," Gibbs replied still looking around the room. "One that says she attacked a former cop outside a bar and left him for dead."

Satisfied that there wasn't any good hiding places in the room he pulled out his business card and offered it to Francine.

"If she contacts you, I'm your next call," Gibbs stated. "The best thing for her is to turn herself in and get a lawyer. Give her my number and I'll make sure nothing happens to her. Understood?"

Francine
"No, I don't understand!" Francine said, taking the card anyway. "You've got to be joking. She wouldn't do anything like that."

Gibbs
"Look, kid," Gibbs said with a mixture of exasperation and sympathy. "Your 'friend' has an FBI file as long as my arm filled with allegations regarding prostitution, drugs, extortion... and that's just off the top of my head."

And now he was just looking at Francine with sympathy.

"I'm sorry. I don't think your friend is who she says she is."

Francine
"I know who she is." Damn her voice for shaking on that, and damn herself for wondering even for a second if she was lying. "She's not just my friend. I've known her since she was twelve, and I don't believe you."

Merlin
"Francine," Merlin said, coming up to touch her elbow as if to keep her from attacking Gibbs over this.

He turned to Gibbs, nodding seriously. "You'll be the first person we call."

Gibbs
"Just doing my job, miss." Gibbs nodded at her and then at Merlin before heading to the door.

Francine
Francine followed him, hands shaking, and waited until she'd seen him get to the stairs before she started to shut the door.

Something bumped insistently against her foot as she did so, and she looked down. With a Beepbuzzwhirr CHIRP!, in wheeled Clocky, its little LCD face almost managing to look angry. Or worried, or something. It rolled over to Katchoo's bed, spun around three times, and made a sound that in a human would be easily identified as HMMPH! before going into sleep-mode.

Francine stared for a moment, then closed the door hard and leaned against it.

"The hell he'll be the first person we call," she said, pulling her phone from her pocket.

Merlin
"Got him out of here, didn't it?" Merlin asked, grabbing his own phone to text Arthur.

Francine
"...Yes. Thank you."

Come on, Katchoo, pick up.

Katchoo
Katchoo picked up the phone, all right.

And immediately said, "Francie, you shouldn't be calling."

Reassuring, that.

Francine
"What do you mean I shouldn't be calling. Katchoo, what's going on? The police were here!"

Katchoo
"Long story, Francine." That? Really not a denial of any wrongdoing, or surprise at the cops showing up. "Something came up. I can't explain now."

Francine
~sigh~ Of course you can't. " Katchoo, they said you assaulted a cop outside a bar. That's a pretty short story." If you left out the list of charges as long as someone's arm.

Katchoo
"I didn't do that," Katchoo said grimly, although now she had a guess as to who had. "Look, I'm fine. I promise I'll explain as soon as I can, but right now I have to go. Just . . . sit tight, okay?"

Francine
"Sit tight? There's a warrant for you, Katchoo! And this cop, Gibbs, he said a bunch of other stuff about you that--" Made her stomach hurt just to think about, let alone repeat.

Katchoo
"Gibbs?" Shit. "Francie, listen. You did not hear from me, okay? Just stay there. I'll get in touch as soon as I can."

Her gulp was practically audible over the phone. "I love you. I have to go."

*click*

Francine
"Chewie, I--"

Right. *click*

"...Love you too."
