Dinah poked at the bottle, and took a breath. "We both went back home for break. He went to Sandover, and his friend Keira built this... machine. Vehicle thing. They all went for a ride on it. Him, his best friend, Keira, and her dad Mr. Samos." Another bite of ice cream, trying to remember back what felt like ages ago now. "Once they were in the vehicle, though, this big artifact fired up a portal-- there's artifacts all over Sandover," she tacked on.

"They kind of had to go through the portal, monsters were coming out of it to chase them-- and they ended up in this city, I still don't know the name." She paused to eat another bite of ice cream, and said glumly, "And then Jak spent two and a half years there. And when he came back here, it's a week later."
