So after a week of that, absotively, posilutely the smartest thing to do ever is to try to get away from that and that by going there and doing THAT which is still being SP'd but you can guess how it ends.

Or perhaps not so much doing as done, but too dense and too drunk and too doused in glitter to realize what was happening until it had.

Either way, best complete-non-plan ever.

As was calling your boyfriend about it while you were still tipsy and freaked and making even less sense than usual, before you curled up with a stuffed animal and passed out.

Right. And now we get to the drunken voicemail portion of our program, which Francine was so looking forward to. "...Will you?"

"...for getting into a fight with Katchoo?"

"No, for what happened last night." Francine lifted her head from his shoulder and went back to the finger-threading thing.

Deep breath. "I went up to Karla's sleepover thing because I didn't feel like being here alone, you know? And... there was wine and randomly a lot of glitter and everybody was being real friendly, which was nice after World War Three with Katchoo, right up until the point where I was sitting against the wall and somebodywaskissingme."

...Maybe too deep a breath.

Merlin blinked a few times, trying to translate that from flail to English. "Who?"

"Kennedy." Because that helped. "One of the new kids. I only ever even talked to her once before."

From anyone else - including or maybe especially Katchoo - that would've prompted an indignant and irrational What, I'm not kissable? From Merlin, it just got a guilty, flaily, "Yes! I wasn't expecting it at all! She just said somethhing about having fun at the party and then WHAM."

She was utterly kissable! Merlin was a firm believer in Francine's--er--kissability.

It was just... a random and very much not Katchoo girl kissing her. And now stifling the urge to turn people into rodents.

"Are you okay?"

Francine blinked up at him. "Am I okay?"

"I mean--with a girl." Words, Merlin. They are your friends. "Kissing you."

"Not that girl!" That...was so not what she'd meant to say. "I mean... not, you know, she wasn't you." Pause. "Not that you're a girl." Shut up, Arthur. "You know what I mean!"

"Oh." Those were Merlin's eyebroows up near his hair now.

Francine nervously studied his expression. "Do you know what I mean?" Please don't ask her if she did.

"I think so?"

She could wish he sounded more certain, but she couldn't exactly blame him for it. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen."

"You didn't do anything," Merlin said, sounding more convincing for both of them. He offered her a smile and leaned over to kiss her on the cheek.

"I should've ... at least stopped her sooner or something." Which was more a complain about her own cluelessness than a moral one, cluelessness and then sheer dazed huh.

Merlin kissed her on the lips at that, shrugging slightly. "You certainly didn't go there looking for that. Would you like me to turn her into a mouse of some sort?"

"...What? No!" Francine eyed him, post-kiss, kind of uncertain if he was joking, yes. "You wouldn't, would you?"

"Um, if you were upset about it..."

That was...oddly comforting and disturbing at the same time. "No. I mean I am, but just that it happened, not at her. It was kind of, uh. A lot of people seemed to be doing it, so I guess she thought I'd be okay with it. She didn't know I had a boyfriend."

"And she was the wrong girl," Merlin added slowly. Oh yeah, he was dim, but he picked up on that bit.

Cue Francine's fluffiest bunny look ever. "What?"

"It's..." Merlin frowned, trying to work this out himself. "You didn't get upset with me when Arthur... kissed me."

"No." Not that she'd known what to think or do about it, but it was... "It was Arthur."
