"The same place as before, when we were in Smile Time?" Dinah guessed, frowning. "She just left a note then, too. Did she at least say when she was going to be back?"

Dinah gave her a look of real sympathy, and held out another cookie. "God, that sounds frustrating." She shook her head, biting her lip, thinking. "She was so worried when you guys were gone, I'd think-- well." She blew out a breath. "Maybe she didn't have time. Or the phone's not charged. Or..." Could be anything, really. "Or something." Which was Not Helpful. "Sorry."

"You sure you want to hear?" Dinah checked. "Because most of it's .. well, I think it's good stuff, but some of it's confusing, and none of it is as weird or worrying as yours. Just, you know. Boy stuff." She paused. "And training with Azula, which is its own kind of confusing."

Dinah nodded, breaking off a bite of cookie to chew while she thought. "I can't remember how we started talking, exactly, but she offered to train me to use my telekinesis better-- oh right, we were in the gym, first week." She swallowed. "Anyway. We're working on this really intense flexibility and strength regime-- she has me running with ten pound weights on my legs, and climbing and avoiding paint balloons." Dinah made a face, then slowly took another cookie, but didn't bite into it. "And working on using the TK as a weapon, with water, and earth. Like, how to make it more effective." She looked at Francine, who was maybe someone she could say this to without it being taken wrong, or being ordered to quit training with Azula. "Only sometimes she completely creeps me out."

"Evil buttless training woman from hell?" Dinah repeated, falling over laughing. "Oh, my, god..."

Dinah was still giggling, and handed over another cookie. "Here, have some medication." She grinned, then shook her head. "Azula's-- not that bad." She paused. "Possibly a little crazy, though."

Dinah stopped, and tried to pin it down. "It's when I do something well, with the telekinesis, she gets all... loomy." She leaned close to Francine and squinted her eyes, then smirked like Azula did. "That's very interesting, Dinah," she said, imitating Azula's near-purr. "Verrrry interesting. Can you run up a wall, as well? Can you make a whip from water? Next time, you should explode the sand under my feet. Why would you pass up an opening like that?"

Dinah snorted, and leaned back, herself again. "You see? I don't get why she does that, exactly. Or why she's training me. I'd think she wouldn't want someone else to get better." Especially after that dunking in the ocean. "I mean, I love learning the new stuff, but I keep wondering what she's up to."

"Arthur trains me because I asked. And because he thinks anyone who wants to, should. Girl or not." Wait. "Well, at the beginning, I think he was just way bored. And he hates seeing anyone do something badly." Dinah tilted her head. "Actually, I can see that being part of it with Azula. She's been in the army since she was twelve. It's like watching something done wrong just irritates her." Put into that context, Dinah could relax a little. Then she smirked. "Or maybe she misses having people to order around?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah cracked up. "Yes?" Heee. She got her breath back, then added, "Arthur's never gone ballistic and physically lost his temper, though. Then again, I never had to dunk Arthur in the ocean to win a fight, so." She took another cookie. "I think maybe she has a phobia about water. She's very wary around it. So... I kind of get her going off when I did that, now."

Dinah puffed out her cheeks, bugged out her eyes, and made a ka-boom! motion with her hands. "Nuclear." Almost literally. "Flames everywhere. I had to dive underwater. But. She offered to teach me, after that. And swore she wasn't going to do that again, and so far, she hasn't come close to it."

"I.. don't know." Dinah held up her hands to look at them then, frowning, and trying to imagine it. "Tony can do it, but that's his magic... There's no physical stuff there, but there's air to push too. Maybe?" She bit her lip. "There's water and sand nearby, though, and those are do-able. And yeah. Definitely being careful. No getting her wet even as a joke." She smiled a little, and said, "But hey. Maybe more awesome superhero abilities if this all works."
