Nice of Fandom to let her survive the weekend, Francine had decided upon listening to last night's radio broadcast, before throwing something else at her. It was sometimes generous like that.

Francine was sometimes generous too. For instance right now she was sticking around her room failing to kill things online, instead of going out and failing to kill things elsewhere.

"I wasn't completely out of it when we were--in the hotel room," Merlin muttered, putting a hand on the small of her back to help the odd snuggling during this conversation.

"About the lily?" Merlin tried again.

Merlin thought about that for a moment before he had to ask, "Do you want to?"

"I saw us as old ladies together," she said slowly, not answering the question at all. "When we were sick. But... I saw other stuff too. That was... not old-lady stuff."

"Does that upset you?"

The full-body twitch might or might not be an answer. "No. Maybe. Yes. I... don't know. I never..."

Perhaps she could skip the protests and the flailing, considering everything else they'd already talked about... and watched... and done... and the general nature of this conversation? Maybe?

"I know I keep saying I like boys like it's some kind of answer when it's not, but I never... I never thought that way about girls before I--" Started thinking that way about Katchoo. "Just before."

"Oh." Merlin looked thoughtful for a moment or five. "I don't think Katchoo would ever push you into anything, you know."

"Katchoo?" Some of that was as if and some was WTF and some was... hell, she didn't know anymore. "I don't even... I know she likes girls. I don't know if she, you know. With me."

Which is why Merlin was busy staring at her. A lot.

"You don't think Katchoo likes you like that?"

"I don't know! She's never said she does. And she only tried to kiss me when we were under spells."

"She loves you," Merlin said slowly.

"I know that." You can hit her if you want, Merlin. With something soft like a pillow. The Cartoonist totally gives you permission. "But that doesn't mean..." Francine flopped her head down to the pillow. "I don't know what it means."

"You've never--shown an interest in girls before. Perhaps she didn't want to frighten you with her own?"

It's entirely possible that Francine's reply was a deliberate attempt to avoid pondering that question; it's equally possible that this one just had to be asked.

"Do you think this qualifies as the weirdest conversation we've ever had?"

Merlin paused. "Perhaps the one about the books was stranger?"

Francine propped herself up on her elbow. "...I might have to give you that one. Nobody's used the words 'bag full of bees' yet today."

Merlin was now trying very hard not to laugh. "I'm sure we could manage."

"I'm not entirely convinced they don't sell those at that shop too. God knows they have everything else." Francine being Francine spared a moment to wonder if it was blasphemous to mention God while talking about a sex shop.
