thatsamilkshake: (toast - no not that kind)

Room 505, Friday Evening

As she'd told Arthur at mass this morning, there was 'food and stuff.' Food was not exactly a full Christmas dinner, but Francine had managed pot roast and veggies, more Christmas cookies than ought to be legal, not a piece of fruitcake in sight. Stuff...was eggnog. With a weetiny bit more rum in it than was strictly legal too.

The door to 505 was wide open, and the music was not Feliz Navidad, which is really all anyone cares about, right?

"You gonna let me have this, Francie?" So asked by Katchoo, lounging on her bed and sniffing experimentally at the eggnog. "It's kinda potent."

"Eggnog in a flask? Eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww, Francie, gross!"

Because that would involve having to clean the flask. And this was, after all, Katchoo.

"And it's a bitch to wash out of my hair, so no."

"Remember the wacky rain?" Katchoo sniffed at her eggnog some more, then took a sip. A small one.

There was a thing with French toast and the common room forever ago, but boy, had it ever stuck with her.

"But it tastes good on you." Look at Katchoo pretending to look forlorn over there. As forlorn as she could while grinning, anyway.

"Yep." Katchoo took a sip of her eggnog and turned the cup around in her hands. "But if you really don't wanna bathe in it, you could always just splash your face."

"And if not, someone should get on that," Katchoo added. "Never as good as the real thing, though."

"Does that mean there's a good chance almost every day could be Christmas?" Shh, Katchoo might be downing that eggnog a bit fast, but come on, it was Christmas, and she'd been behaving herself. "That better not be a fruitcake in there."

"What the hell did he --" Oh. Oh, that conversation. Right. That conversation that had somehow led to her tearing the envelope open now and hello there tropical vacation in the middle of winter and -- "And he told me not to worry about his sense of proportion. Holy frikkin' $%!*."

No, just the one between her ears. But not in a bad way! Mostly.

By way of an answer, Katchoo held the tickets out to Francine. "I swear, when I mentioned anything to him, I didn't mean something like this."

She rubbed off on people! She couldn't help it!

. . . not, relatively speaking, dirty.

"Christ. I'm gonna kick his ass, that insane, overcompensating . . ." She could continue in that vein for quite some time, but the bemused look on her face, halfway between wanting to laugh and cry, ought to dispel any doubt that she meant it.

"Which is more than I gave him." Oh, look, they could stare in stereo, and congratulations, Arthur, you won that round big time. "All I said was I wanted to take you somewhere nice for a couple of days. Like in the city, not a tropical island, geez!"

[identity profile] thismaskiwear.livejournal.com 2009-12-27 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
"He asked what I wanted for Christmas, and you know pigs'll fly out of my ass before he backs down when he wants something." Katchoo shrugged helplessly. "So that's . . . yeah."

"I resent that remark." Yes, resent it in such a way as to reach up and wrap an arm around Francine. "Or wait, do I resemble it?"
