Room 505: Tuesday morning before classes

Despite this being her day of classes, Francine was still finding it a relaxing one compared to last week. Besides, she didn't have class for another hour or so. She could totally hang out on her bed, read the interview with Gwen DeMarco in the latest issue of Starlog magazine and... playwiththedroidbaby Hush.

"Did that go on your list of career options?" Katchoo teased. And fully expected to get bopped on the nose or something for it.

That worked too.

"No, but you have a really nice pair of 'em on you, Peters," Katchoo informed her.

Then melodramatically slumped to the floor.

"Well, thank you, but they're for me, not a bunch of guys who watch those commercials on tv and pretend they're paying attention because they plan on buying them for their wives!"

"....And you. And babies. But NOT national tv! What would my mother think?"

Oh, yeah, about your mother, Francie . . . you might be surprised.

Anyway. Ahem.

"So we're not putting your cleavage on display then. Got it," Katchoo said as Clocky rolled up and beeped in her ear. "OW! Frikkin' electrodemon spawn!"

Clocky's responding tweet was a little disturbing. If it was trying to plant the suggestion in Katchoo's head that it was related to the droid babies, it miiiiiiiiiiiight have succeeded.

"Be nice," Francine said, giggling. "He makes sure we wake up on time. Plus unlike some people he never interrupts when we're...busy."

That time, the beep held a distinctly long-suffering note. "Yeah, okay." Katchoo reached over to pat Clocky on . . . the snooze button. "I'll give 'im that much credit. But we've gotta live somehow, Francie."

"We could get jobs, preferably ones that don't involve my boobs," Francine said. Such things must exist, right? (...Not really, Francine. It's just more obvious with the bra model gig.)

Then there was the other thing, which she hadn't mentioned yet, because, well, weird. And crazy. And there was the whole droid-baby thing, and...

"Arthur tried to tell me he should pay for us to go to college."

"Unless you plan on getting a detachable set --"

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaang on a minute.

"He tried to tell you what?"

Never had the line between wanting to hit someone and hug them (or possibly both at once) been so blurred.

Francine plopped down on the floor beside her. "He said he's got a couple million dollars in loose change floating around that he can't do anything with once he goes back to Camelot."

He might not have said the loose change part, but he'd certainly said it just as casually.

"He's certifiable, Francie." Katchoo squirmed over to rest her head against Francine's knee. "Like I even bothered to apply anywhere. You can get in somewhere, but what the hell am I gonna do?"

The bitch, please took priority over her complete agreement on Arthur's mental condition. "You think you couldn't get into art school? Please. And you've got a kabillion pictures to use as a portfolio."

"Art schools are full of pretentious bloated airbags," Katchoo grumbled. No, Chewie, that's only if you end up going to the Foster Wolfe School of Art Experience or something with a name like that. "It's a little late in the semester to do that now, anyway, innit?"

"So if you went, they'd be slightly less full." The other part, Francine didn't have much of an answer for. "I don't know about deadlines or whatever, though. Fandom Post Office is weird, though. Maybe if we addressed them 'to be delivered on November 3rd, 2009' they'd actually do it?"

"Francine." Katchoo sounded distinctly impressed there, and it wasn't an act. "Nice thinking."

Pause. "Really? I was mostly kidding." Which was more like half kidding, but willing to pretend to totally, if it had sounded dumb.

"Well, what the hell. It's worth a shot," Katchoo pointed out. "Otherwise how the hell do people send mail to the past?"

Katina Choovanski: not at all above trying to game the system sometimes.

"I guess it couldn't hurt," Francine agreed. "If we knew where to send them."

"I can take a hint, Francie." From certain people. Who were in this room. "I'll start looking into it, okay?"

"Who was hinting? Me? I wasn't hinting." Yes. Yes, she was.

Not by most people's standard of hinting, Francie, no. Katchoo leaned up to kiss her. "It's an option. And better than living in a rent house by the railroad tracks in Houston, right?"
