Room 511, Wednesday Night

Well, there was a room there. There may or may not have been a roomie, and there was probably a kitty hiding somewhere, but there was definitely no Francine.

[OOC: open to anybody who might have a reason to come looking for her, and of course the roomie if so desired! ETA: Francine's not there, but you're welcome to camp out and interact with each other! It said that all along RLY. Look, zombies ate my brain, mmkay?]

After a very exciting evening, Dinah finally remembered (ice cream!) that it was Francine's birthday. She headed up a couple floors, bag of goodies in hand for the Birthday girl.

She knocked on the door. "Francine?" No answer. Hunh. Dinah bit her lip, then hung the bag of goodies on the doorknob, with the card for FRANCINE! prominently displayed. Maybe she'd find her tomorrow.

Worried and hoping Francine was with Merlin or her buddy Katchoo, Dinah headed back down the hall.

[identity profile] thismaskiwear.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
There was a Katchoo, a box containing a cake held behind her back, knocking on the door as soon as she got back to the dorms from her post-work stop at J,GoB, because there was no way she'd forget her best friend's birthday.

"Francie? Oh, Franciiiiiiine . . ." she called, and yes, if you happened to hear her in the hallway she was practically crooning that last bit.

. . .

"Francine?"

A few minutes of standing there, looking forlorn, and Katchoo finally sighed, left the cake by the door, and went back to her own room.

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin arrived with pizza and candles and a gift for her and... found an empty room.

She was probably late.

Yes. Late.

He could wait.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah wandered back up again, hoping to catch Francine, and knocked on the door again. "Francine? Oh birthday girl, you in there?"

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin had looked up at the knock, hoping maybe it was Francine. "No such luck," He said, opening to the door for Dinah. "You haven't caught her yet either?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"No! I mean, I spent most of today inside, at the gym and studying, but..." Dinah sighed, frustrated, and pointed to the bag on the doorknob. "I figured she'd come find me when she saw these, but that was a while ago." She chewed on her lip, hands twisting together. "It's stupid, but Blysse took off, and Leto's a tree, and Priestly got hurt, and I just want to know where she is."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Feeling a bit of deja vu smug amusement over the tree bit, Merlin nodded. "Maybe she's with Katchoo?"

Even though they made plans...

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe?" Dinah said, looking hopeful. "Angry can be very forceful. Maybe she got an idea. They've been friends forever, so, yeah. Could happen."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin nodded, not sure if he ought to believe that or not. Then something else hit him. "Priestly was injured?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah nodded, hugging herself, and folded her legs down to sit on the floor. "Yeah. Zombies. A few hours ago. Out by the park. He got a concussion and a sprained wrist before we got away to the Clinic."

She still kind of sucks at that linear story-telling thing.

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Zombies." It wasn't quite a word he knew! A wraith, on the other hand...

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Um, hunh." Dinah laughed even though nothing was funny. "Walking dead corpses that are ick and stupid and want to eat your brains?" She covered her face and laughed again, shakily. "They wanted to eat Priestly. I shoved them away. And then we ran." Another breath, then she looked up again. "There were four of them."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"And no one is doing anything about this?" Merlin asked, standing up.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know! It just happened!" Dinah flailed a bit, still on edge from the experience. "We told the doctor at the clinic and she said she'd take care of it then we had to get Priestly back here and they were like the zombies on Monday and I don't know, Merlin, I just...."

Yeah, Dinah's a little stressed.

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
"There were others on Monday?" He needed to--make sure Arthur didn't blindly run off to fight them.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"No, not here, I-- sorry, I'm telling this all wrong." Dinah took a breath, tried to calm herself. "The Gun Club. We went through a portal to a mall. We went there before, for lazer tag, it was fine," she added. "Only this time, there were zombies." And a full-body shudder for that memory, thanks. "And, and, we ran for the atrium, and waited for the portal to show up, and left them all back there." She shook her head, hard. "I don't know why they're here too!"

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Have you talked to anyone about it?" Merlin asked. Because... really now. "Any teachers?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Mr. Algren was there on Monday." Dinah blinked at him, then straightened. "Oh! You mean, since this evening? No, just the doctor at the Clinic. I guess, tomorrow morning, yeah." She bit her lip, then winced. "Mr. Deadpool, maybe?"

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"The odd man in the red--" Jester's costume. "Outfit?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"He's the vice principal, and he's scary, and he's maybe-crazy, and he fights ninjas." All of which qualified him in Dinah's mind to know what to do. "And he can figure out how to tell everyone to stay inside, or take shelter, or whatever." Dinah firmly believed in telling authority figures when something was attacking. "Or maybe the police... oh! Radio." She took a breath. "Maybe they know already. I'll check Radio, figure out who to call from that."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Somewhere... Deadpool was shuddering over the responsible behavior thought upon him.

"But we can't always believe radio," Merlin pointed out.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, then, then, the Principal. Or Detective Constable Day. I will, I'll call somebody, or go in person." Dinah hugged herself again, then rubbed her face. "The doctor at the Clinic will back it up. I think." She sighed and looked around Francine's room.

Do not wonder where she is. No. She's with Katchoo. End of story.

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"People really need to be warned," Merlin said, most certainly thinking about where Francine may be.

God help whatever zombie bit her.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I know, Merlin. I know." Dinah's voice may have cracked there. "Monday was bad enough, I don't want anyone else to live through a re-run of that, and Priestly could've been really hurt, and Leto's a tree if Emmett's not a liar, and..." She took a breath. C'mon. Suck it up. "Yes. Okay. Right. Doing that thing."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Emmett doesn't lie so much as not say certain things," Merlin said, giving her a slightly awkward attempt at an arm over her shoulder.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah?" Dinah remembered the DVD, and laughed a little. "Oh, right. Yeah. Okay, so yes." She closed her eyes and leaned into Merlin, took a breath, then nodded. "Calling tonight. Leaving messages if no one's there. Calling tomorrow, if I don't hear back, and going in." Plan. Good plan. See? She could deal. She opened her eyes to look at Merlin. "She's fine. She's definitely fine, you know."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin just nodded. For Dinah's sake more than anything. "I'm sure she is."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Alice had not been expecting several people in her room. She wondered if perhaps she had the wrong room number, especially as none of them were her roommate.

"Is there a party?" she asked. "No one told me there was to be a party."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Hello, Alice," Merlin said, waving a bit sheepishly. "I was just waiting for Francine."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Alice drew herself up properly, noticing the candles. "I'm terribly sorry. I had no idea. I shan't interrupt. I can ... stay elsewhere this evening, if you ..."

She gestured in a way that hopefully conveyed that she was quite willing to grant them privacy, should they need it.

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
"No!" Merlin said quickly. "I mean, you shouldn't get kicked out just because I'm here."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't mind," Alice said, eyes widening. "I mean, that is, I wouldn't think ill of either of you, and I do apologize for interrupting. I had no idea you had plans. Please, don't let me trespass upon your privacy."

Perhaps she could convince Leto to have another evening in the common room.

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin just looked around. "I think she'd have to be here for that."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Too true," Alice agreed, taking a seat upon her bed with a frown. "And my first thought would have been that she were with you, but clearly, that shan't get us anywhere. Perhaps she went out to celebrate?"

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Did she mention plans to you?" Merlin asked, looking a bit hopeful for something here.

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm afraid not," Alice said gently. "But you are entirely welcome to wait here for her return. So long as you aren't allergic to cats, that is."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Not that I know of," Merlin assured her. "Would you like some pizza?"

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"I would, I thank you," Alice said, bowing quite graciously.

Dinah -- the cat, and not the blonde girl -- hopped down from Alice's bed. Alice seemed to be talking to the boy; the boy must not be an evil invader that Dinah should protect Alice from. Therefore, she was going to sniff his shoes. One could tell rather a lot about a person from their shoes.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Hi Alice," Dinah said, then pointed to her little bag of goodies. "No, I was just dropping this off. Francine said we'd get ice cream, but I flaked out. And we were wondering where she was."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I confess, I've no idea," she said, shaking her head. "I've been at the music shop since midday. Does she have a portable telephone, that one might call? Those are dreadfully useful."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah smacked herself on the forehead. "She probably does, but I don't know the number. Argh. How smart is that?" She sighed. "We thought maybe she was with Katchoo. That would be good. Fun for everyone."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I should have thought she was with Merlin, perhaps, except for him being present as well," Alice mused. "I'm afraid I don't have her number, either. I have a portable telephone, but I don't seem to use it. One wonders why I bothered purchasing one."

Well, it had been pretty.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I have one. Mostly I talk to my sisters." Dinah took a breath, then shook her head. "And I wish I'd thought to get one and give it to Blysse before she took off for the forest with Blind Seer."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Alice frowned, slightly, at that. "Is there some danger in the forest?" she asked. "I should have thought Blysse capable of fending for herself, especially with Blind Seer by her side."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Usually, yeah, no problem. But there's zombies in town. Maybe they're in the forest too." Dinah frowned, pushing her hair back in thought. "Then again, no way Blind Seer wouldn't smell them coming. Ugh."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Zombies?" Alice looked up at Dinah with surprise. (The girl, and not her cat, who was quite contentedly licking her paws.) "Are we under attack? I hadn't heard."

She had noticed some strangely sluggish figures, passing by her as she returned to the dorms. She had been somewhat preoccupied, she supposed, and hadn't recognized them as anything too unusual, considering Fandom and all.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe? I don't know if it's that, or if the ones at Caritas are just on a bender, or what. But a few of them attacked Priestly across from the park." Dinah shook her head, then added hastily, "He's okay. Concussion, and a sprained wrist. We ran. Got to the Clinic." She hugged herself and said, "But I don't like not knowing where people are now." She thought of last night's broadcast about Leto. "Or how they are."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Alice exhaled noisily. "A pity I didn't think to go looking for any," she said. "I might have been able to help. Perhaps after class tomorrow, then."

She could add a few to her kill-tally and help to keep the island safe. What could possibly go wrong?

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'd go with a partner," Dinah said cautiously. "Tahiri did okay getting away from them on her own on Monday, but I wouldn't want to risk it by myself." Honestly, she didn't want to, but kind of suspected she'd have to, in order to keep people safe pretty soon.
