Room 505: Tuesday morning before classes

Despite this being her day of classes, Francine was still finding it a relaxing one compared to last week. Besides, she didn't have class for another hour or so. She could totally hang out on her bed, read the interview with Gwen DeMarco in the latest issue of Starlog magazine and... playwiththedroidbaby Hush.

Babyless and for the moment Katchooless later in the morning, Francine had been back at her magazine-reading. But you know, this time not out loud to a robot.

"Hi, Merlin! Come in!"

Maybe the baby liked to hear about fashion and pleasing your man. You never know.

"Survived watching Arthur's... baby thingy I see."

Hey, it was an article about Lieutenant Tawny and her lovely breasts, Francine would have you know! So, you know. Very low cut fashion and pleasing lots of geeky men.

"Of course." She sat up and tossed the magazine over to her pillow. "It's not like it was a chore; I kind of like playing house with them."

"Hoping more of those children show up again?" Merlin asked with a grin.

Francine hadn't even thought of that, so her eyes widened a bit. "Oh. Um." Well, now she was! Except for the part where she'd be all depressed when they had to leave.

"I could live without having another kid with Chuck Bass," she said finally.

Merlin had to think about that. "...you and the world both."

"I mean, I liked Brownie!" Francine was quick to say and quicker to feel guilty about implying she didn't. "I just don't want to think about any other situations in which I could possibly have sex with Chuck."

"She could have been fostered." Yes. That was so likely.

"She baked me a cake. She was totally mine."

"...different father?" He was reaching, so sue him.

Francine shook her head. "Anyway I know how she was conceived. I just don't want to have another one show up and have to think about circumstances in which I would sleep with Chuck Bass while not on drugs."

Like.... if he'd so much as indicated he'd be interested in that anytime before you met Merlin, Francine?

Oh dear. Someone appears to be attempting to strangle the narrator.

"Let's just hope you only have a child with Katchoo the next time it happens."

A beat.

"Which I suppose would be adopting..."

"Unless you can create babies with magic, yeah."

Merlin thought about it for a moment. "I don't know if that would work."

"I wasn't really--" Francine paused, because she hadn't been, but the fact that he took time to think about it made her curious. "Why not?"

"Well it's not like a stuffed animal, you know?"

"You made a baby owl with one of those," Francine pointed out.

"But it's an owl!" Merlin replied. "Not a person."

"I know. And," she admitted. "I'd be freaked out for the rest of my life if you turned a doll into an actual baby."

...Yes, she'd love it just as much, despite being freaked out for the rest of her life. DON'T JUDGE HER.

"Maybe you could do that in-vee-tro thing they talked about on the google?" Merlin suggested.

"That's for people who can't..." Francine paused in her attempt to frame it in words even she understood, to ask, "You were googling in-vitro fertilization?"

Okay, Francine did not want to be the one to have to explain to him how that wouldn't work for him and Arthur, so she was going to... ask. Because that was smart. "...Why?"

"....You're a big giant dork, and I love you," Francine felt the need to point out, just in case he wasn't aware.
